There are so many brands out there and they all claim to be amazing so how do you even begin to sift through it all. Fortunately you have a licensed cosmetologist who happens to be vegan to weigh in.
All of these brands are PROFESSIONAL brands… ie you must have a license to purchase wholesale. Retail wise they should be purchased from a salon, spa, stylist or the distributors website…not amazon, (or any other 3rd party website), drug store, grocery store or house party. Why does this matter? They have been verified to treat hair and skin conditions which should not be left up to hobbyists.
Anyways…. Here are the BEST 5 brands:
R + Co : R+Co (stands for Rogue and Company) is a completely vegan brand with vegan creators. They are forward thinking without a detail left out of place. Not only do they create incredible vegan products but with vegans at top tier roles within the company they truly care about veganism. In fact the company as well as their members actively campaign for veganism, sustainability as well as other human and social rights. Completely free of sulfates, mineral oils, petroleum, parabens and of course animal products. Their products are concentrated so you don’t need to use as much and they do not contain fillers which is ultimately the best formula for your hair. See more & shop here: https://www.randco.com
Aiir Professional : Aiir Professional (yes with 2 “i’s”) is an incredible brand designed by a styling artist who became fed up with other products not doing what she needed. So she created her own! Female owned, completely vegan and cruelty free. Aiir Professional goes out of their way to have intentional and minimal ingredients. Oh AND their products are crystal infused! Crystals have been used in other hair lines to add grip to texture products but the founder has dug deep using the properties of crystals to bring out the best in hair while addressing its needs. Currently there are only styling products but they are in the works to develop shampoo and conditioner as well. See all their amazingness here: https://aiirprofessional.com
Jack Black: This one is for the guys, (or those who prefer traditionally “male” products). There are so many products here! Not only do they service your hair but also your skin, beard and shave. With such a wide variety you’re bound to find something that fits your needs perfectly. They all have a strong but not overpowering scents and with a unique viewpoint addresses problems men (“traditionally”) may face from a first hand perspective. Paul Mitchell : So full disclosure…not 100% of their products are vegan but they ARE working towards achieving this goal with new technology and with the massive advancements they already made in such a short time I still wanted to include these OG’s of good hair. They have also been cruelty free from the very beginning and were vocal advocates. One huge thing is that their new hair color formula is vegan ! Buh-bye beeswax! The permanent color Paul Mitchell XG Color is not only ammonia free but also has a vegan logo so no one, (stylist or client ) is confused. Also their toners and demi called The Demi are vegan as well as their lighter Skylights. As for their products all of them are vegan except for these 8, (which as I said they are working towards making vegan): Worked Up, Spray Wax, ESP Elastic Shaping Paste, Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair, Forever Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner, Platinum Blonde Toning Spray, and Platinum Blonde Conditioner. So avoid those BUT everything else is completely safe for your ethically conscious use without having to sacrifice on quality! See all the options here: https://www.paulmitchell.com/all-products/
Deva Curl : Where are my curly girls at? Curls have a unique set of delicate needs as they’re often more dry and fragile placing even more emphasis to have quality products that are free of dehydrating agents. Enter in Deva Curl… which is like 98% vegan. Only 2 of their products ( Set It Free Spray and Low-Poo Original Cleanser ) are not vegan. That being said all they rest a vegan, cruelty free and absent of sulfates silicones and drying ingredients. This line is specifically designed for curly hair needs to embrace those natural curls and coax them to behave regardless of weather, curl pattern or sleeping style (I’m talking to you rough sleepers) while not suppressing their natural beauty. All of the bottles and packaging is low-impact and can be recycled after use. Check with local recycling for any local restrictions.
