When I launched The Kind Bride in February of 2018 my goal was to reach as many vegan brides-to-be as possible to inspire and reassure them that planning a vegan wedding could be achieved without involving too many headaches.
Having worked in the wedding industry for over two decades I am well aware of how stressful planning a wedding can be and how complicated it gets to please everyone else whilst trying to conceive your own idea of a perfect day. Now, imagine that struggle multiplied by a crazy number if you’re vegan! As a wedding industry professional and a vegan, I started fantasizing of a plant based bridal fair, where vegan brides-to-be could finally experience a sense of normalcy, feeling right at home when visiting a wedding expo.
Since I juggle living in between two continents, I thought this project would be on my to do list only in a distant future… until I crossed paths with Laura Frecon. Laura is the founder of eco luxury lifestyle platform and marketplace Verte Luxe. I recognized in Laura the same work ethics and enthusiasm that I cherish, and after a period of time of knowing each other I shared with her my big dream of putting together a vegan bridal show… Thankfully, Laura agreed there was a need for this niche to be filled and took no time to get onboard. With Laura’s experience in planning many eco conscious events in Los Angeles, California seemed like the perfect location to launch the first ever vegan bridal fair (Los Angeles is the sixth city in USA with the highest vegan population).
“Verte Luxe strives to provide brides and grooms all of the resources they need to plan an eco-conscious, ethical and sustainable wedding. The idea for Verte Luxe actually came to me when I was planning my own wedding. I was working in Australia, trying to plan an eco-friendly wedding in Pennsylvania. I would spend hours scouring the internet trying to find the perfect gown made from eco-friendly materials, shoes that were eco and ethically made, organic beauty and hair, ethical wedding rings, sustainable floral designers, farm to table catering, etc. A lightbulb went off in my head and I thought, why not offer one place for brides and grooms to go where they can find what they are looking for and feel confident that the brands and vendors on the site have the same values that they do. We have since grown into a full lifestyle platform with five pillars: wedding, fashion, home, beauty and life. I am honored to be working with Daniela and The Kind Bride to plan this event. We look forward to providing plant based brides and grooms some amazing resources for planning the wedding of their dreams. ” – Laura Frecon

A feminist and independent spirit since she could remember (her childhood heroines were Pippi Longstockings and Katharine Hepburn) Daniela Degrassi found her creative outlet as a lifestyle photographer, working mainly in Northern California where she lived for 15 years before moving back to her native Italy to continue to be her autistic sister’s primary caregiver. Vegan since 2014, she found a perfect way to carry her message of compassion while celebrating her love for the wedding industry launching The Kind Bride in February 2018.
