During the past two years there has been a surge of online resources focused on vegan weddings. I launched The Kind Bride in February 2018 and soon after, I was quite pleased to see the rise of more platforms like ours in response to a clear demand. Last week, I connected with Kirsty Harman, founder of Love of All Weddings, a platform that shares the same ethos we do. While The Kind Bride focuses on a more global spectrum, Love of All Weddings offers an online directory of vegan, eco friendly and ethical wedding suppliers from across the UK. They also feature real vegan and eco friendly weddings to help inspire those currently planning their own conscious wedding day with lots of ‘vegan planning tips’, while the Love of All Weddings blog offers advice and inspiration. You can see how similar our platforms are, and I could not resist chatting more with Kirsty as she’s about to host an online event that caught my attention.

When did you start and what inspired you to create Love of All Weddings?

I have worked as a Wedding Coordinator at venues for a number of years and found great joy in assisting couples to bring together a truly special day. I had the pleasure of coordinating a couple of vegan weddings, which as a vegan myself was lovely to be a part of. It became quite clear however that there wasn’t really an easy way for vegan couples to find wedding suppliers who shared that same ethos. I launched the Love of All Weddings website in December 2018 with the aim of becoming a ‘one stop shop’ for couples planning a vegan, eco friendly and ethical wedding day.

I was conscious not to focus solely on veganism with the supplier directory as did not want to exclude those who may be following an eco conscious route but were not vegan. For this reason we show different badges on each supplier listing to highlight their vegan, eco friendly and ethical qualities:

  • 100% Vegan
  • Eco Friendly
  • Ethically Sources
  • Vegan Company Owner
  • Vegan Options

I feel that it is important to have an open space for like minded people to be inspired by one another to create a beautiful and kind wedding day. At Love of All Weddings we showcase the best of eco friendly, ethical and vegan weddings; and show that making these choices in life does not need to mean missing out.

Can you share your journey to veganism?

As a child I had toyed with vegetarianism; I’d never quite been comfortable with eating animals, but at that age didn’t really have the knowledge or ability to do too much about it. Later on, I began to see videos and articles about veganism on social media – I had never really considered what happened to chicks in the egg industry, or calves in the dairy industry. I began looking into it more and also found out about the huge environmental impact that meat production has. Then whilst on a trip to Berlin in 2016, where there was plenty of delicious vegan food, by boyfriend turned to me and said that he didn’t want to eat animal products any more. I told him that I’d been thinking the same thing, and we decided together then and there that we would try being vegan. We gave up all animal products for lent initially, but then never looked back. We found that there is so much more to veganism that just the dietary habits, but also looked for cruelty-free options on all products and began to live a more conscious lifestyle.

Let’s talk about the virtual event you’re planning, how did the idea come along? how will it be structured?

I had been running Love of All Weddings in my spare time, around a very busy full-time job. Suddenly, with a global pandemic meaning that I am now stuck at home with a huge amount of time on my hands, I’ve had a lot more time to put into creating something truly exciting. I had wanted to put together a wedding fair featuring all of my wonderful suppliers, but until we know when gatherings will be allowed again, this was off the cards. So I had the idea to give it a go online! This will take place via Instagram Live (@loveofall_weddings) from 3.00pm to 5.30pm on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th June 2020. It will be hosted by myself and then each supplier will be invited to join the Live for a 20 minute time slot. We will chat about their services, what makes them vegan, eco friendly or ethical, and there will be the opportunity for those watching to interact and ask their own questions. We aim to give each supplier the opportunity to showcase their work to potential wedding couples.

I am so pleased to notice some familiar names in the panel, wedding professionals also featured on The Kind Bride UK Vegan Wedding Directory. Including Lisa Flahant aka Celebrant in Cornwall that was a guest writer on The Kind Bride last year. Here’s a list of all the wedding professionals that will share their knowledge during the Instagram live feed June 6th and 7th, remember to sync with UK zone time!
