We’re such fans of Icelandic jewelry brand Aurum by Guðbjörg. We’re still swooning over their bridal collection we featured last year, while now it’s time to celebrate the launch of their new range of ethically produced 14kt gold rings. Ready for a peak?
The collection includes over 20 new styles of wedding, celebration and commitment rings from their most popular and timeless collections, each inspired by the unique Icelandic landscape and nature: Swan, Tuttu, Erika, Cygnus, Kolga and Rán.
The collection features both men’s and women’s co-coordinating gold rings which can be worn as delicate jewelry pieces as well as engagement or commitment rings and wedding bands. The rings are handcrafted with love in either recycled 14kt white gold or 14kt yellow gold finishes in Aurum’s own workshop in Reykjavík.
The Tuttu Collection (above) evokes the shape and texture of Greenlandic reindeer hooves. Handcrafted from sustainably sourced recycled silver, the jewelry is soft and slightly ruffled, yet also pointed and sharp. Each Tuttu piece is unique and the lines in the silver are rounded but definite. On the textured surfaces you can detect a soft line that tells us a story about the reindeer’s adventures.
Among my favorites from the new collection are the Gift (picture above) and Erika rings, their elaborate craftsmanship remind me of Medieval wedding bands. The minimalist in me also appreciates the uniqueness of Fire (picture below), a perfect fusion of tribal and modern design.
The Nanook ring (above) is delicate – light but strong, inspired by the Greenlandic polar bears and their paws. It evokes the movement of the bear as she pads over the thin ice, placing each paw precisely and deliberately. Nanook is white and has fragile lines that reveal the tension in every step.
The swan’s gracefully arched neck is the inspiration for Cygnus (above) His long elegant neck stretches forward as he leads the V-formation at great heights, incorporating softness and movement. The Cygnus collection shows soft lines aligning with masculine strength.
Among the collection there are a few diamonds rings as well, like Kolga and Diamond Claw (below). In keeping with Aurum’s sustainability principles, all the gold is recycled and the brand only works only with Lab-Grown Diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds have the same physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds. They offer excellent value and are an environmentally friendlier choice given that no mining is required.
Bridal jewelry is often chosen because of a special relationship it holds to the bride, and for any bride who shares a close connection with nature like Guðbjörg, Aurum’s range is the perfect way to express this passion on her wedding day.
