Hello to all the Kind Brides out there! My name is Alex, and I am the Owner and Creative Director of Perry Rose Media. My PR agency specializes in bridal fashion, particularly slow fashion models, hand-crafted and fair trade certified goods. We also work with clean beauty and cannabis brands. Though I travel for work regularly to Pittsburgh, New York and sometimes Miami, I do the most of my work from my home office in Dayton, Ohio.

Last year, I headed the PR campaigning for Celia Grace, one of the first ever Certified Fair Trade dress lines on the market. It was an enriching experience to not only see the demand for this business model and its offerings, but also to see how co-operatives operate, and where the fashion trends were shifting – more inclusive, re-wearable beyond the wedding date. My interest in wholistic and eco-conscious products and services goes back years ago to when I first became a mother. I was desperate to find alternatives to chemical laden, animal tested products that were so readily available, particularly for my children.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in December of 2014, and launched my PR agency the following year in July. Since then, I have had the honor and privilege of working with some incredible brands for their PR, copywriting and social media needs. My start in the bridal game was all thanks to Kata Banko Couture, a hand-crafted accessory line whom I had kept my eye on since I was a PR intern in college.

Like most people, I saw little to no conversation in the wedding industry around ethical manufacture, let alone fair trade practices. I learned quickly alongside Colleen Bankovich of Kata Banko Couture and now Bohyne, how unethical weddings really were – beyond the food, flower and paper good waste. These days, brides are paying top dollar for dresses produced unethically, in massive heaps, when there are far better options for the environment and their conscious coming out of the independent bridal designer market. One thing I’ve learned in my role marketing and publicizing bridal lines is that digital presence is everything; it’s what drives buyers to stock collections, it’s what inspires brides to create their “vision.” It’s absolutely essential to already exist, if not thrive, in spaces that people are looking for your type of product.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me chauffeuring my two daughters back and forth to school, sipping a chai latte or listening to one of my favorite podcasts. I’m particularly interested in Ghost of a Podcast, a weekly astrology podcast from Jessica Lanyadoo and the Boss Babe Podcast, which offers invaluable advice, tips and tricks for growing your business like, you guessed it, a boss babe. I collect crystals and minerals, and I love to create collages out of old magazine clippings. If I ever had time to read, you’d catch me with an F. Scott Fitzgerald book in hand, or David Sedaris. I’m a hopeless romantic who enjoys tongue stories, too.

No matter what is going on in the world, people will always get married. I feel that it is my duty to launch ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free brands into the spotlight so brides can make the best choices for their ceremony and beyond.
