I’ve known Natalie through mutual friends for many many years. I was over the moon excited when she started dating Megan.
For the past few years Natalie and I had the vegan thing in common so of course when they chose me as their wedding photographer I was thrilled! I love when I get to eat wedding cake so VEGAN WEDDINGS FOR THE WIN! I absolutely love documenting weddings for my friends, it makes the day that much more meaningful.

Natalie and Megan put all of their creativity and compassion into this wedding with no details left unturned. Their vegan wedding at Greynolds Park Boathouse in North Miami Beach was eco-friendly and DIY and the intimate guest list allowed the couple to enjoy each and every one of their guests. It was honestly a perfect day!

Natalie, how did you two meet?

We had some mutual friends but never really talked until Megan posted a story on Instagram about her dog Louie taking toilet paper from the bathroom all the way to his bed and it was so cute, I had to message her. We became friends and talked all the time, we planned to meet as friends at Top Golf, but we quickly realized there was an immediate connection.

What made you become vegan?

I am a huge animal lover and one day I opened my eyes and thought I was such a hypocrite for loving animals yet supporting abuse and torture just for a meal.

How did you decide to plan for a vegan wedding?

We found a local catering company who provided vegan options and an amazing bakery to make our amazing cake and extra desserts. We also kept our event eco-friendly and DIY with flowers and decor by Sola Wood Flowers

Were your family/friends supportive?

They were supportive but some people were asking if there would be any meat options.  To everyone’s surprise they all loved the food and asked for leftovers before leaving.

What did you wear?

I wore a dress from David’s Bridal. We both wore matching converse white low tops with custom stitching that said our initials and our wedding date. TweetNStitchy from Etsy helped make our shoes amazing. Natalie wore a beautiful navy-blue suit from Banana Republic with suspenders and a bowtie.

Did you have a vegan hairstylist /makeup artist?

She was not vegan but reassured me that the products she was using on my face were cruelty free and did not contain any animal products.  Her name is Katy Taurel

Who catered your wedding?

We got catering from Sahara Food Market and Bakery, a Mediterranean restaurant from Coral Springs.

Our menu included: Hummus, pita bread, grape leaves, spinach pies, cauliflower with tahini, Israeli salad, falafel, moussaka, white basmati rice with vermicelli and green grilled veggies.

Who made your wedding cake/desserts?

Our two-tier cake was from Bunnie Cakes.

The top tier was chocolate with chocolate icing and the bottom tire was vanilla with vanilla icing.  We had a naked cake with wood flowers from Sola Wood Flowers and a beautiful cake topper made from wood with our initials in a heart. This bakery is completely vegan and beyond amazing!!!

Our extra desserts were from Cinnaholic, we had cookie dough shooters with icing toppers. They are also a vegan bakery and also very amazing!

As for drinks, we served water, white claws, both red and white wines and champagne.

What did you use as wedding favors?

Since my wife and I are both gay, we got these small boxes that look like wood that say love and inside were the rainbow skittles.  Not only are they vegan but was a nice subtle touch showing our pride.

Were your guests pleased/surprised by the food quality?

All of our guests knew the food was vegan and almost all of them came up and told me how amazing the food was, asking for the caterer’s names and everything! They were all so surprised we brought to-go containers for them to take food home with them. The cake was a huge success, normally I hear not everyone eats the cake, but we had very little leftover.

Was your wedding all you wanted it to be?

Yes, and then some.  I had the beautiful outdoor nature behind us as I married the love of my life, our moms married us, surrounded by our loved ones.  We even had raccoon visitors which made the day even better (racoons are my spirit animal). There was one vegetarian at the wedding and she was so excited that the wedding was vegan, she said she’s never had so many options at a wedding before and thought it was amazing. There were also a few vegans that were there and they were so excited to be able to eat everything, including the desserts!! I was also so happy that we had a vegan wedding so everyone could see how amazing vegan food is, hopefully made people more interested in exploring different food options and being more open-minded.
