The quiet shores of British Columbia Sunshine Coast seem ideal for relaxed, intimate weddings. Our friends at Jennifer Picard Photography, Vancouver based, feel quite at home in those surroundings (remember Janine and Luca‘s wedding?) and have masterfully captured the essence of today’s featured vegan wedding. Our couple, Tina Marie and Tyler were so lucky (call it vegan karma!) to celebrate their union during one of the hottest and brightest days of last year’s Canadian summer.

 

Tina Marie and Tyler Story

Tina Marie wrote a little note to share with The Kind Bride readers how she met her soulmate: “We met a decade ago through mutual friends and formed a friendship based on a shared fondness for running, silliness, travel and adventure before becoming a couple two years later. Those adventures have only continued over the last eight years, as we travelled through Europe, ran a charity 10K, moved from Alberta to Vancouver, enrolled in university, and of course, got engaged and began planning a wedding!”

“One of the things that drew us together was our shared belief in kindness and our desire to make the world a better place. We’ve always loved animals and the outdoors, so veganism was a choice that made sense to both of us from both an ethical and an environmental perspective. Our love of travel, hiking and camping, the ocean, and nature meant that when planning our wedding, it was essential to find a place that was outdoorsy and far from the city. We prioritized three things: involving our loved ones; an outdoorsy setting; and a custom, vegan menu. Being from Alberta, we had more than a few relatives who had never had vegan food, and we were excited to show them how amazing vegan food can be! Wedding planning can be such a stressful, wasteful process, and so we wanted to focus on sustainable and local options as much as possible. This approach not only fit our values, but also kept things more authentic and creative–not to mention relaxed–while planning. We were lucky to meet and work with awesome vendors who shared our values and created a beautiful and memorable wedding day for us. And as far as the vegan food, our guests were pleasantly surprised: not only did many of them not even realize it was all vegan, they kept exclaiming how delicious everything was!”

Rockwater Secret Cove Resort  is a lovely, arbutus laden waterfront property that is one of the Sunshine Coast’s finest locations. Situated on Malaspina Strait, Rockwater Secret Cove Resort is the ideal destination for your special day.  This easily accessible location and tranquil ocean front setting can accommodate up to 120 overnight guests and up to 200 people for dinner. Tina Marie and Tyler choose this all-inclusive location for their ceremony and reception; easy decision since Rockwater could provide a custom made vegan menu for the couple and their guests. The cake and cupcakes were served by Sweet Athena customizing vegan treats for the occasion.
