At The Kind Bride we love celebrating cultures, each of them having such unique approaches to bridal fashion and weddings. We recently featured brand Elexiay highlighting Nigerian craftsmanship sustainably, and today we cross paths again with Seychelle Wilmouth, one of our favorite eco indie designers and founder of vegan friendly online boutique Silviyana Bridal.
Seychelle recently launched the Pagkakaisa Collection and shared with us the inspiration behind it.
“Pagkakaisa means ‘unity’ in Tagalog. The premise is that through the thread of fashion, we will be weaving a unified voice on what Filipino culture and tradition looks like in our modern day world. We are featuring indigenous textiles, created by Pilipino designer, Pilipino Ako from San Francisco, California. We hope that the wedding collection would inspire modern Filipino brides who are looking for wedding attires that are modern, chic and will pay homage to their culture and heritage.”
The Pagkakaisa Collection is especially meaningful to Seychelle, constantly drawing on her Filipino culture for inspiration. Partnering with Grovea Fabrics, a Filipino women’s cooperative empowering the local community, Silviyana Bridal is also known for implementing recycled pineapple leaf fiber into their designs. The pineapple fabric, while being used for centuries in the Philippines as gifts to royals, is also a sustainable textile as no electricity or chemicals are used in the sourcing process.
To launch the Pagkakaisa Collection Silviyana celebrated with a styled shoot photoshoot involving a number of Filipino-owned wedding vendors in the California area. They all came together to create a modern, chic look to a truly Filipino wedding look book.

An incurable enthusiast and independent spirit since she could remember (her childhood heroines were Pippi Longstockings and Katharine Hepburn) Daniela Degrassi found her creative outlet as a lifestyle photographer, working mainly in Northern California. Currently splitting her time between SF Bay Area and her native Italy to continue to be her autistic sister’s primary caregiver. Vegan since 2014, she found a perfect way to carry her message of compassion while celebrating her love for the wedding industry launching The Kind Bride in February 2018.
