It seems the Pantone colors of the year might perfectly reflect 2021: our idealistic hopes symbolized by the cheerful yellow, mixed with our realistic expectations of more mellow grey. When blended together, the two are quite complementary — as well as perfectly chic.
And while wedding plans haven’t stopped during COVID (no matter how much you need to cut down your guest list due to gathering restrictions), neither should beautiful pairings. Here are some tips on how to incorporate yellow and grey into your big day!
Groom fashion and accessories
Yellow and grey patterned ties and pocket squares are two of the most effective ways to add a pop of color to his ensemble. Or keep it simpler with a grey suit or tuxedo and yellow boutonniere. If you prefer to a subtler touch of the pairing, go for dress socks or suspenders with a fun stripe or polka dot pattern. Whether you wear a yellow and grey sash around your waist, or some gorgeous yellow or grey vegan shoes in which to dance the night away, you can easily get in on the action! Choose yellow and grey bridesmaids dresses, white gold and citrine jewelry, or even soft hair accessories to complete your look.
This may be an obvious one, but who doesn’t love yellow roses, ranunculus, orchids, tulips, or daisies? Flowers can truly set the tone of a wedding. But no matter whether you are going more upscale or rustic bohemian, infusing some happy yellow into your bouquet or floral centerpieces will help spread the joy all around. For grey touches, add silver leaf.
Stationary and Décor
A grey and yellow invitation will be unique and eye-catching—and surely help lay the groundwork for your color scheme. Place cards or a seating chart, napkins, and even thank-you cards to follow the big affair can all complement this pairing. For a bold statement, try grey or yellow tablecloths with the opposite colored chairs!
Why not request a grey-frosted vegan wedding cake with yellow flowers and trim, plus maybe icing layers on the inside? Yellow frosted cupcakes, cake pops, and donuts (vanilla or lemon flavored, perhaps) would all match and, with the perfect baker, probably look as amazing as they taste!
