We all know that weddings can be stressful… Have you thought about exploring essential oils for the bride to be? Essential oils are a wonderful plant-based aromatherapy method that has become quite popular in the last 10 plus years.  In fact, essential oils have been documented for use in beauty, religious, and spiritual ceremonies for thousands of years. In this blog post, I’ll share a few of my top picks for support for wedding preparation, to the wedding, and even the honeymoon!

The Prep Phase

The phase of preparation for the wedding can be super exciting! But it can also be challenging, stressful, and downright exhausting. So let’s talk about my number one top pick for the prep phase of a wedding!

Lavender is my go-to.

Lavender is “all things calming” essential oil. It can help a busy bride (or groom or couple together!) release the tensions of the day! Just found out that your cousin can’t make it to the wedding and your favorite cake designer is already booked on your day? Well, this essential oil is perfect for you. It can help you when you have racing thoughts, can’t sleep, and in general just feel heavy with the burden of the planning process.

A Minty Mind.

Couples may also face various challenges trying to stay organized and focused. Because let’s face it – seating charts are not the most exciting date night activities on the planet! So when you are trying to reel in your mind and bring clarity and energy to your mind, then break out a minty essential oil. I love Wintergreen for its ability to deliver a  crisp awakening.

And I also love it because this essential oil is also an oil of surrender. On an emotional level, wintergreen can help a couple let go of the notion that they have to carry the load on their own. If you are struggling to hand off and delegate some items on the to-do list, and if it’s having an effect on your ability to focus, take a quick minty break. Your mind will thank you for it! And your friends (or family or wedding planner) will also thank you for allowing them to carry some of the load with you!

Give it up for Grapefruit.

Right behind the minty mind, you can follow up with a citrus essential oil of your choice. Not only is grapefruit is an energizing and uplifting essential oil, it also has an emotionally supportive component as well.  Grapefruit encourages a positive relationship with one’s body based on acceptance and love. This is particularly timely when thinking about gown fittings, wedding photos, and the journey of sharing one’s body with one’s soulmate.

Dancing and Romancing.

If you are new to essential oils you may not know that they are particularly fun to mix and blend different combinations together. A touch of science with a lot of art and soul, blending essential oils can also be a fun way to bond! You can even create your own personal fragrance that is 100% plant-based and toxic-free. And if you are looking for a specific blend for a relaxing or sensual massage, then you might want to make your own passion blend. Try blending the following essential oils: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, clove, sandalwood, jasmine, and vanilla. It won’t take long at all for the stress of the day to dissipate.

Ways to Use Essential Oils.

There are so many different ways you can use essential oils. You may use them in a diffuser. Add about 3+ drops of essential oil or a combination of essential oils along with water into the diffuser.

You can also add your favorite essential oils to you bath with Epsom salts. This is perfect for a long wedding planning session (citrus plus mint) or nights when you just can’t sleep (lavender). Or you might want to use essential oils on the go. You can make a roller to take with you! Just add 10 drops of essential oil to a 10 ml roller. Then, top off with a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil. Lastly, you can take advantage of a lovely essential oils necklace or lava-rock bracelet. Pro-tip: These also make terrific bridesmaid gifts!
